We would like Global Ember Meetup to be a platform for members of the Ember community to keep each other update to date on progress they make in the Ember activities. So, we encourage speakers to return and give updates on previous talks.
We have 2 main formats for videos in Global Ember Meetup.
These talks are typically 15-20 minutes with the purpose of introducing an addon to the Ember community. These talks usually answer Why was this addon created? When should it be used? What should the user be aware of?
The result is video that looks like these and they can be added to video README of the addon. For example, see ember-cp-validations or ember-state-service.
Code Talks are about 25-40 minutes and usually show code with or without slides. They're intended to dig deeper into specific use cases and can be done as an extension of an Introduction to <addon_name>
talk.
There a some technical challenges around hosting an online event like ours. To be able to share the presentations with the community, we need to have high quality video. The only way to do that is for each speaker to record a video screencapture. This document explains how to setup that up.
- Use Google Chrome (not Canary) with BigMarker Screen Capture extension installed
- Change resolution to 1280x800 (or similar)
- Setup QuickTime Player for recording
- Check 30 minutes before the event for sound check
- Save file without editing
- Upload raw file to Dropbox or Google Drive
- Send link to file to taras@embersherpa.com
DO NOT USE GOOGLE CHROME CANARY it's not compatible with BigMarker.
- Install the screen capture extension
make sure you record the audio
