Think twice before abandoning Xorg. Wayland breaks everything!

Hence, if you are interested in existing applications to "just work" without the need for adjustments, then you may be better off avoiding Wayland.

Wayland solves no issues I have but breaks almost everything I need. Even the most basic, most simple things (like xkill) - in this case with no obvious replacement. And usually it stays broken, because the Wayland folks mostly seem to care about Automotive, Gnome, maybe KDE - and alienating everyone else (e.g., people using just an X11 window manager or something like GNUstep) in the process.

The Wayland project seems to operate like they were starting a greenfield project, whereas at the same time they try to position Wayland as "the X11 successor", which would clearly require a lot of thought about not breaking, or at least providing a smooth upgrade path for, existing software.

I looked into the state of GraalVM and Clojure and wrote some small work-related scripts.

GraalVM Build Tools

Downloaded GraalVM and set $GRAALVM_HOME
Found two main libraries for building GraalVM CLIs - https://github.com/luchiniatwork/cambada#packaging-as-a-native-image and https://github.com/taylorwood/clj.native-image (or https://github.com/taylorwood/lein-native-image for the lein equivalent). I chose clj.native-image as it seemed more focused on doing one thing well.
First tried its template example which was easy to follow.
Then added a graalvm build to one of our small cli tools
Found it to be pretty straightforward except for a stdout flushing issue that was trivial to fix

To set up a REPL that has cljs.core available, we need to re-partition the ESP32 and allocate more memory in Espruino for "JsVars".

The default Espruino bootloader.bin, pre-built variants of partitions_esprinuo.bin and rebuilt espruino_esp32.bin, and the ClojureScript runtime core.bin are also available here.

bootloader.bin gets flashed to 0x1000, partitions_espruino.bin gets flashed to 0x8000, and espruino_esp32.bin gets flashed to 0x10000 as per a usual ESP32 Espruino setup, and we put the ClojureScript runtime at 0x2C0000:

This is probably going to be the next iteration of the declarative CRUD metamodel that powers Hyperfiddle. It's just a design sketch, the current metamodel in prod is different. Hyperfiddle is an easy way to make a CRUD app. Hyperfiddle is based on Datomic, a simple graph database with the goal of "enabling declarative data programming in applications."

This extends Datomic pull syntax into something that composes in richer ways. The key idea is that Pull notation expresses implicit joins and thus can be used to declare data dependencies implicitly, without needing to name them. We also handle tempids, named transactions, and hyperlinks to other pages. We satisfy the hypermedia constraint, like HTML and the web.
