problem | where | z level(s) | sktich | comments | status |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
orphan/ambiguous dots | errywhere | 4 | dots | better, not fully fixed. There is no way to really solve this right now - the best we can do is make sure the scalerank densities work well at each zoom level so we're not tring to label much more than can fit on the map | |
island abbreviations at zoom 4 | seychelles, sao tome, cabo verde | 4 | sc // cv // comparison | - | slightly more consistent now, not a big deal |
triple names | belgium | 4-5 | belgium | reflects local languages | wontfix |
act ibt overlapping | australia | 4 | australia | - | done! |
low scalerank labels too black? | - | - | - | looks too much like google, departs from mb streets aesthetic | done! |
city labeling | iceland | > 8 | iceland zoom 7 // comparison zoom 6 | iceland has no cities except capital until zoom 8 << i think this is ok, just not a lot of big cities in iceland, altho it would look nice | done! |
too many N or S label placements | - | - | - | * | done! |
Colombo 05, colombo 04... visible at different zoom | Colombo, Sri Lanka | 9 + | colombo | ** | wontfix |
admin-1 marine borders are stonger than admin-0? | greece | - | 13 | - | wontfix |
rectangle over adm-1 border | chile, argentina | zoom 5+ | chile-arg | the border between argentina and chile is different from the DOS international boundary file and the natural earth adm-0 file*** | done! |
no istanbul? | - | ne zooms | istanbul | already ticketed |
*I'm not sure I agree with this line, although I need to learn more about how this ldir column is working. Still, I think too many labels are being places N or S of their city dots, i.e. Sao Paulo, Warsaw, Paris (but seems to be missing a dot)
**also a data issue, maybe we could regex this out in the migrate script? city name and a number appear along with place labels after zoom 9. This affects most of Colombo.
***this just looks like it's missing a disputed = 1 tag. could add a tag (controversial), or just set disputed = 1 in post-install-migrate.sql see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Patagonian_Ice_Field - osm_id: (ways) 146732531 + 134291530/
