Ingredients:
- 600g minced meat, mix beef and pork
- 5l canned tomatoes
- 1-2 white onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 chopped carrots
- olive oil
- salt
- 6-7 dry laurel leaves
- 10-15 basil leaves
Prep:
- In a big pot, make a "soffritto" with lots of oil, the meat, the onion, the garlic, and the carrots: medium heat for 10 mins. Adjust salt to taste at this point
- When it's a bit drier add the tomatoes, slightly blent (if you want it really smooth blend all the way through, but I like the chunks)
- Add some oil, the basil (cut the leaves in pieces), the laurel (don't cut the leaves). Adjust salt to taste.
- Let it simmer for 2h (at least) at low heat
