- B: Typically has between 10 percent and 20 percent clay and 50 percent to 90 percent sand and has loamy sand or sandy loam textures. Water transmission rate of 0.15-0.30 in/hr.
- C: Typically has between 20 percent and 40 percent clay and less than 50 percent sand and have loam, silt loam, sandy clay loam, clay loam, and silty clay loam textures. Water transmission of 0.05-0.15 in/hr.
- D: Typically has greater than 40 percent clay, less than 50 percent sand, and has clayey textures. Water transmission of 0-0.05 in/hr.
- Excessively drained. Water is removed very rapidly.
- Somewhat excessively drained. Water is removed from the soil rapidly.
- Well drained. Water is removed from the soil readily but not rapidly.
- Moderately well drained. Water is removed from the soil somewhat slowly during some periods of the year.
- Somewhat poorly drained. Water is removed slowly so that the soil is wet at a shallow depth for significant periods.
- Poorly drained. Water is removed so slowly that the soil is wet at shallow depths periodically or remains wet for long periods.
- Very poorly drained. Water is removed from the soil so slowly that free water remains at or very near the ground surface for very long periods.
