Fixing Behringer audio in B650 after moving from b550
Moving to a new motherboard isn't always straight forward, especially after 5 years. Here are some tips to make sure your audio works after a ton of debugging on my b650.
The Not So Obvious
==================
* Make sure your headphones are turned _up_ and not _down_
* Install Asus's Armory Crate. It's needed for audio drivers and also Wi-Fi.
* Make sure not to mess with the Behringer's settings while you are messing with your audio settings
* Triple check that your Behringer is in Line-in. My old motherboard had Line-In on the far left, this one has it on the right.
Headphones
==========
On my previous motherboard, headphones would show up as its own device in all parts of Windows. Instead, it showed "Speakers" regardless
of if it was coming out of the headphones or if (I presume) it was coming out of a set of speakers.
RealTek Audio Control
=====================
1. This App is very confusing and counter-intuitive. Occassionally, depending on the settings in "device advanced setting" under playback and recording, it would either not show line in or play audio at half the volume.
2. I got rid of the front headphone audio and moved my headphone to the line-out plug (in the middle).
3. The back panel had the following setting.
ANALOG
Back Panel
(Blue) Line in
(Green) Headphone
(Pink) Mic In
Front Panel
(Green) Headphone
(Pink) Headphones
Playback Device
* Select the radio button "make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously"
Recording Device
* Select the radio button "Tie up same type of input jacks as an input device".
After Advanced Configuration
============================
Recording Devices
- Go to Line-In and make sure the recording volume is set high. I went to "playback volume" and under "line volume" to muted.
Playback Devices
- Main Volumes (set to 100%)
- Front left and right (clicked)
