The frequency range of the RTL2832U SDR radio chipset is 500 kHz –1.75GHz ¹ ². This range can be extended to 24 MHz in direct sampling mode ¹.
It can capture up to 2.4 MHz of the RF spectrum at one time ³. The RTL2832U supports tuners at Intermediate Frequency (IF) at 36.125MHz, low-IF a 4.57MHz, or Zero-IF output using a 28.8MHz crystal, and includes FM/DAB/DAB+ Radio Support ⁴.

DCF77 is a German longwave time signal and standard-frequency radio station. It started service as a standard-frequency station on 1 January 1959. In June 1973 date and time information was added. Its primary and backup transmitter are located at Mainflingen (50°0′56″N 9°00′39″E), about 25 km south-east of Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
DCF77 is controlled by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national physics laboratory and transmits in continuous operation (24 hours). It is operated by Media Broadcast GmbH on behalf of the PTB.
The highly accurate 77.5 kHz (3868.2897806 m wavelength) carrier signal is generated from local atomic clocks that are linked with the German master clocks at the PTB in Braunschweig. The DCF77 time signal is used for the dissemination of the German national legal time to the public. The transmitter generates a nominal power of 50 kW, of which about 30 to 35 kW can be radiated via a T-antenna.
BPC: This is a mediumwave radio transmitter that broadcasts time signals at a frequency of 100 kHz. It is located in Pucheng, Shaanxi Province, China.
DCF77 is a continuous longwave radio signal transmitted by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the national physics laboratory of Germany. It is used to synchronize clocks and other devices with high precision.
BPC is a shortwave radio signal transmitted by the Bureau International de l'Heure (BIPM), the international organization for the dissemination of standard frequencies and time scales. It is similar to DCF77 but is not as widely used.
DCF49 is a longwave radio signal transmitted by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), the national physics laboratory of Germany. It is an older signal that is not as widely used as DCF77.
JJY is a shortwave radio signal transmitted by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). It is used to synchronize clocks and other devices in Japan.
RTZ is a shortwave radio signal transmitted by the United States Naval Observatory (USNO). It is used to synchronize clocks and other devices in the United States.
MSF is a mediumwave radio signal transmitted by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). It is used to synchronize clocks and other devices in the United Kingdom.
WWV and WWVB are longwave radio signals transmitted by the United States Naval Observatory (USNO). They are similar to DCF77 but are not as widely used.
Longwave frequencies:
-
77.5 kHz: This is the main frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national physics laboratory, from the transmitter site in Mainflingen, Hesse.
-
75 kHz: This is a secondary frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is also transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Mainflingen.
-
157 kHz: This is a third frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Prangins, Switzerland.
Shortwave frequencies:
-
4.75 MHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Mainflingen.
-
6.10 MHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Mainflingen.
-
10.75 MHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Mainflingen.
-
14.35 MHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Mainflingen.
Very low frequency (VLF) frequencies:
-
34.9 kHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Breisach, Baden-Württemberg.
-
78.5 kHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Breisach.
-
123.0 kHz: This is a frequency for radio clock broadcasts in Germany. It is transmitted by the PTB from the transmitter site in Breisach.

Channels 1 and 1A were used for early experimental broadcasts and are no longer allocated.[3] Channels 15 and 16 are allocated for use in the African Broadcasting Area only.[4] Channel 2A was only ever used in Austria for the Sendeturm Jauerling to avoid interferences with neighboring Eastern European TV stations. Channel 3 in Belgium, RTBF 1 broadcast from the Liège transmitter with 100 kW until the switchover to DVB-T. Channel 12 was reserved by the military in some countries (like Germany (West Germany only)) so only relay transmitters operated on this frequency. Channel 4A audio carrier's frequency is very close to US Channel 6 audio carrier and overlaps the FM band in Europe
