VSCode config to disable popular extensions' annoyances (telemetry, notifications, welcome pages, etc.)
// I'm tired of extensions that automatically:
// - show welcome pages / walkthroughs
// - show release notes
// - send telemetry
// - recommend things
//
// This disables all of that stuff.
// If you have more config, leave a comment so I can add it!!

JavaScript code for Nativefier Discord to add a counter and native style

You need Nativefier and this icon. Then, save discord.js, the icon, and build.sh in the same folder. Finally, just execute build.sh! ./build.sh (remember to chmod 755 build.sh first)!

Add gitlab labels to your repo from admin labels

in addition to @Xunnamius package. you may use the dbconsole if your are feeling brave and want to check and update just the labels that are off in color or case. Also, I deleted only the labels that did not exist in the admin labels, and then ren teh gitlab-fix-labels ... add all to add the missing labels to all our projects.

login to your server

sudo gitlab-rails dbconsole

template (admin) labels.

Export TOTP tokens from Authy

Exporting your 2FA tokens from Authy to transfer them into another 2FA application

IMPORTANT - Update regarding deprecation of Authy desktop apps

Past August 2024, Authy stopped supported the desktop version of their apps:
See Authy is shutting down its desktop app | The 2FA app Authy will only be available on Android and iOS starting in August for details.

And indeed, after a while, Authy changed something in their backend which now prevents the old desktop app from logging in. If you are already logged in, then you are in luck, and you can follow the instructions below to export to tokens.

If you are not logged in anymore, but can find a backup of the necessary files, then restore those files, and re-install Authy 2.2.3 following the instructions below, and it should work as expected.

How to Enable Gitter Next in Franz

Switch to Gitter Next in Franz

  1. Open Franz DevTools. They don't have a UI for that but support team told me that Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Fn+Up will do it on Mac laptops. I assume Ctrl+Alt+Shift+PgUp shold work elsewhere.

  2. Franz is an Electron app. All chat windows are WebView elements and you can't inspect them. Select a webview element for Gitter (not the shadow DOM root inside it). Then open a console and type $0.openDevTools(). This is an Electron API.

  3. To turn on Gitter Next paste document.cookie='gitter_staging=staged;domain=.gitter.im;path=/;expires=' + new Date(Date.now() + 31536000000).toUTCString() into the console of the new DevTools window. This one-liner is from Gitter Support article.

  4. You may need to restart Franz after that. Enjoy!
